DEA Lincolnshire have been accredited by Elmhurst Energy System Ltd and we carry out Energy Assessments using their software.

When we come to carry out an Energy Assessment we are very conscious that we are entering someone's home. We are always courteous and careful.

What we do:

· Introduce ourselves and explain what we are going to do.

· Undertake an initial tour of the property externally and internally.

· Ascertain the construction method and material of the property along with its age and that of any extensions.

· Take measurements of the property, this involves measuring the heat loss perimeter walls, ceiling heights and external wall thicknesses.

· Look at the heating system and identify the make and model of the boiler where one is installed, together with its controls.

· We look at the method of heating and storing hot water.

· Inspect the roof void and ascertain the levels of insulation.

· Note secondary heating systems and how many open fireplaces there are together with the amount of double and secondary glazing there is in the property.

· Count the number of light fittings and the percentage of low energy lights.

· Once all the required information is gathered we leave site.

· All the information is then entered into the SAP software and is submitted.

· From this, the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is generated and is sent to the person who ordered the Energy Assessment.

The above gives a brief overview of some of the observations that need to be undertaken during an Energy Assessment.

How long does it take?

This depends on how large the property is and the ease of access to all rooms in the property. Most Energy Assessment visits take less than an hour and we are very conscious of taking up the occupiers time.

We will always try and work around time constraints that owners and occupiers may have.
